Das Hyte Y60 ist ein wunderbares Gehäuse, das auf ein besonderes Design setzt und sich vom klassichen O11 von Lian Li absetzen kann. Die Verarbeitung insgesamt ist sehr gut und der aufgerufene Preis von 219 € definitiv angemessen.

Das PC-Gehäuse Hyte Y60 zieht mit seiner außergewöhnlichen Form, den drei Glaselementen und einer vertikalen Grafikkartenaufnahme über Riser-Kabel die Blicke auf sich. Doch nicht alle Aspekte des Y60 können mit dem ersten Eindruck mithalten. Wer es leise mag, muss bei der Hardware Abstriche machen.

Das Hyte Y60 ist das erste Gehäuse von Hyte, das wir testen - und gleich ein richtiger Hingucker. Mit seinem dreiteiligen Panorama-Design kann es verbaute Hardware bestens in Szene setzen. Und dank des mitgelieferten Riserkabels zeigt sich dabei selbst die Grafikkarte in ganzer Schönheit. Doch überzeugt der Gehäuseneuling auch funktional?

The HYTE cases have long been a favourite of the flexing /r/PCMR redditors, with its premium aesthetics and build quality, as well as its relatively high price. However, it seems we’re a bit late to the party with this one, but we’ve finally been able to get one into the office to take a closer look at what all the fuss is about. As much as I’ve seen and appreciated these cases online, until today, I’d never actually seen a HYTE case in person! It’s not cheap at £209.99, but looking at the picture above and the feature list below, it’s absolutely packed with amazing features that certainly make it very appealing.

HYTE Y60 is an example of how to make a popular design even better and not necessarily more expensive. The Y60 beats the competition with aesthetics and quality but also details that matter for enthusiasts. Everything fits perfectly and has a high-end finish. The only thing I would change are fans (their color).

The Hyte Y60 is an (E-)ATX compatible mid-tower chassis (456 × 230 × 471(L × W × H)). It looks excellent also, thanks to a three-piece tempered glass panel. The build quality is excellent. You got here three 120 mm (1300 rpm) fans, two are placed at the bottom of the chassis, and one is at the back. There’s an option to install a combo of 360+280+120 water cooling radiators (but these 360 at the top need to be narrow). If you prefer air cooling – even the 160 mm products will fit. As for the power supply – theoretically, it’s 235 mm (so I think all used PSUs would work). Speaking of the storage options – you can mount two 3.5” or four 2.5” drives. From not-so-positive things, the E-ATX board would still cover the cable cutouts, so we would recommend not indicating it in specs. Also – the 360 mm radiator compatibility at the top is questionable (it should be relatively narrow). Also – it would be good to have 140 mm fans at the bottom, as there’s a place for that size. The (three) provided 120 mm fans should be a 4-pin PWM type, not 3-pin voltage controlled (1300 rpm). Also, the non-removable filters are not a positive side and the plastic top panel. The chassis costs 199.99 USD (which is not cheap). But is it worth it? Yes, because you get overall a great quality, nice features, and excellent looks. There’s a PCIe 4.0 riser included, which is not a standard in the competition’s offer (although here it's a must, as there's no option to mount the GPU horizontally). One unified motherboard cable plug makes the installation process faster (and the overall assembly process is easy). The final result looks very clean, also thanks to the plenty of zip-tie hooks placed internally and externally. Summing it up – it surely deserves a “Recommended” award, but it's an expensive product.

When HYTE announced the Y60 a while back i was very eager to check it out, it’s not every day that we see one such PC case after all. It’s not just the panoramic view that makes it unique or even its compact size, it’s also interior space which surpassed my expectations. Unfortunately, HYTE left RGB lighting out and i expect that to “disappoint” certain users, especially since iBUYPOWER is using it in excess with their pre-built systems on that same PC case (as evident from the above picture). Yes, i don’t expect that the extra cost for RGB fans will deter many potential buyers but even if it does some i truly hope HYTE takes that into consideration (and why not release a variant with RGB fans and even LED strips). All that’s left is to see whether or not HYTE continues this line with higher litre variants (Y80/Y90 models would be nice to see).

Hyte’s introduction to the market with the Revolt 3 was great but targeted at a smaller market than a full-sized case. So the Y60 is an important launch for Hyte and it is looking very promising. The panoramic glass design that allows you to show off the entire inside of your case without obstruction is unique and looks great. It is also targeted at an audience that loves to show off their PCs which can also help spread the Hyte brand to others as well. Look at what the O11 did for revitalizing Lian Li’s popularity for example. The open design does something else that I don’t think happens enough. It is designed to show off your expensive video card. I’ve been saying for years, even with a traditional case where the top edge of the card is all that is visible that people want people to know what card they have. It is the most expensive part of your build, especially these days, and most video cards only put GeForce or Radeon up on the top edge. This design puts the whole thing out in front like a jewel. Of course, if the GPU shortages have been affecting you and you are sporting GTX 1030 temporarily it is going to look even more underwhelming in the Y60. But as far as GPU size is concerned, you won’t have to worry about that with a full 3 slots being supported and nearly infinite height and length.

We love it when we see a new manufacturer try something different within the PC market. To many cases are carbon copies of each other, so it is great to see Hyte enter the market with something that's different. With the Y60, Hyte has established themselves by creating something unique. Yes, we have seen many of the Y60's design elements in other cases, but you can't honestly say that the Y60 is a copy of anything else. That said, the Hyte Y60's uniqueness has a cost.

HYTE came onto the market in a rather memorable way with the Revolt 3 ITX chassis. While most brands opt for existing tooling and at most slightly modify it, HYTE did go all out with its own tooling, and continues to do so with the unique Y60. In terms of design, the chassis is extremely beautiful. It can easily be the centerpiece of your desktop from all sides, especially with the choice of three color options. Its looks translate really well into what the case is meant to offer from an internal layout perspective, constantly leading the user to find aspects that are either 45° or 90° visuals. These range from the shape of the vents and PCIe riser cable cover to the angled placement of branding on the motherboard and those angles on the hard-drive trays.
