I said at the start of this review that G.Skill is well known for having some of the fastest and best high-performance memory in the world. Clearly, that is still very true, and while it didn’t come #1 in every benchmark when it comes to the raw read, write, copy and latency, it’s the fastest. When it comes to rendering, gaming and day-to-day usage, it’s going to deliver killer performance, and if you’re using flagship CPUs and GPUs, you’ll want fast memory like this to ensure you get the best performance. The build quality is as good as it gets here, with premium components and materials throughout. However, what really sets it apart is the design. Whoever sketched out the design for this memory really nailed it, but their engineers also built and crafted it to such a high standard, giving us one of the finest-looking sets of memory I’ve ever seen. RGB can often look a bit overdone and tacky on memory these days, but the slimmer lightbar doesn’t show down the whole side and is partially topped with metal that forms an S-shape on the spine. It really makes it look more stylish and designed, rather than just stuck on as an afterthought. I love that there is a good range of speeds available for this memory, with both Intel and AMD-optimised kits available too, so be sure you seek out the right version for your system. For most people, the 6000 MHz kit will likely be more than enough, and it’s a lot cheaper too! However, if you want the best of the best, the G.Skill Trident Z5 series has a lot to offer, so long as you’re willing to make the investment.
