Enermax PlatiGemini 1200W, ATX 3.1

Nach dem D.F.12 kommt Enermax mit einem zweiten speziellen Netzteil, das es in sich hat. Es ist schön zu sehen, das sich die Hersteller seit einiger Zeit wieder trauen Dinge auszuprobieren und sich so von der Masse absetzen können. Das PlatiGemini ist nicht nur dank der zwei Standards und ATX 3.1 Zukunfssicher, es verfügt auch über eine auserordentlich gute Effizienz ( auch im Standby ) und hervorragende Spannugsqualität. Die speziellen Features wie die besonderen Kabel, der Dustfree-Mode und das Design des Gehäuses wissen ebenfalls zu gefallen. Mit seinen 10 Jahren Garantie und einem durchaus für das gebotene fairen Preis, gibt es abseits der extrem hoch angesetzten Überlastschaltung kaum etwas an dem Netzteil auszusetzen.

This leads us to today's sample - the 1200 W rated PlatiGemini from Enermax. As you might have guessed it already, it complies with the ATX12VO standard. But in addition to that, it is also fully compatible with the classical ATX (version 3.1 I might add) standard (hence - Gemini in the name), making it indeed very universal. According to Enermax, the PlatiGemini 1200 W (currently the only wattage available for the series) is the world's first power supply in compliance with both standards. Today we'll see how well it performs. But let's start with the specification summary.

Overall, the Enermax PlatiGemini 1200W ATX 3.1 PSU is priced at a premium $230, a high price but one aligning with other high-end models in the market. Its compliance with ATX 3.1 and ATX12VO standards, combined with a 10-year warranty and exceptional build quality, makes it a solid choice for demanding users, especially for those who dislike frequent upgrades. Although the limited number of connectors might be a drawback for some, the PSU’s outstanding performance, efficiency, and thermal management make it a viable option for those looking to build or upgrade a high-performance gaming or workstation PC.

The PlatiGemini 1200W power supply unit by ENERMAX is among the very first models to support the PCIe 5.1, ATX 3.1 and ATX12VO standards and even though these don’t really add much compared to PCIe 5.0 and ATX 3.0 it’s never a bad idea to get the latest available technologies. Now I was slightly surprised to see that the PlatiGemini is currently available only at 1200W, but my guess is that ENERMAX will fix that by introducing more models later. With that out of the way it’s clear from the charts that in terms of rail stability the PlatiGemini 1200W does very well and as for noise levels although not the lowest I’ve ever recorded they are quite good. The dust free rotation (DFR) technology even though most PC cases come with dust filters underneath the PSU area it could help a bit so not something bad to have.

The Enermax PlatiGemini 1200W is the first PSU I have ever evaluated supporting both ATX12V and ATX12VO standards, making it as future proof as possible. At the same time is is ATX v3.1 compliant, meaning that it can deliver 200% of its max power for short periods (0.1ms).
