MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic, LEDs RGB, Gunmetal, MSI Sonic RED, USB, DE

With this being MSI’s mid to high-end keyboard, the build quality of the Vigor GK71 Blue Switches gaming keyboard is fairly high compared to other mid-level keyboards, although it may not match some of the higher-end models. The aluminum top is very solid feeling while allowing the keyboard to remain relatively light. The included wrist rest feels cheap compared to the board and I would have preferred either a silicone cushion or solid rest as pleather tends to crack for me in the long term. The small features such as adjusting the volume through the knob on the top of the keyboard or on the side of the keyboard is a useful feature that may not get as much attention at first, but can be used heavily, especially if the keyboard is used under the desk where height is limited.

Aesthetically speaking, the Vigor GK71 Sonic looks attractive, colorful, and gaming-centric. It also has excellent build quality thanks to the top aluminum frame. The dedicated media keys are a nice additional feature, giving you quick access and control. However, the volume knob with the mute button is wobbly and has a somewhat scratchy feeling when turned. It’s not as smooth compared to other mechanical keyboards with volume knobs.

The MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic is a premium wired keyboard that boasts of its vibrant RGB lighting and distinctive keycaps. The linear MSI Sonic blue switches complement the keycaps to offer both style and functionality. Despite being a fan of non-linear switches, I found the typing experience on the GK71 Sonic to be quite smooth and bouncy due to the light switches and indented keycaps. They do make the standard mechy noise, though. Some drawbacks may discourage potential customers. Firstly, the non-detachable cable may cause issues with longevity. Secondly, the keycaps may not appeal to everyone's taste and finally, it lacks a USB dock/HUB. The MSI control software, let me put it mildly, is a lot to deal with. The MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic blue is a proper mechanical keyboard that combines high-performance technology with a stylish design. This keyboard features a non-detachable cable with a USB Type-A connection and is designed with the latest innovation in the world of gaming – the Sonic blue switches. These switches, developed in collaboration with Kailh, are the medium weight ones in their class and boast a 45-gram actuation force. This key aspect is important for competitive gamers who require a quick response time, and the Vigor GK71 Sonic is the first keyboard to feature these new switches.

MSI built the Vigor GK71 Sonic Blue with dual-layer keycaps that are half clear and half black to enhance its brilliant RGB lighting. The MSI Sonic Blue switches have an actuation force of 45g and provides solid haptic feedback creating a light and clicky feel. A multi-media section at the top right offers dedicated media controls and a dual-function volume knob for easy on-the-fly adjustments. An Aircraft-grade aluminum alloy top provides a rigid frame that is highly durable for years of reliability.

It has been quite a while since I last tested a keyboard from MSI and the difference to the last model could hardly be bigger. The Vigor GK30 tried out at that time was clearly intended for beginners with membrane switches and a low price; here, one now rather turns to the other end of the spectrum. The following article will tell you whether this keyboard can look more than just chic. However, I have to make a small preliminary remark, because this keyboard has unfortunately been a bit late on the market.

The MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic keyboard is the one we’re reviewing today. This is not the first time we got this manufacturer’s peripheral, as, for example, the GK80 was checked almost four years ago. . Ok, but what the new one has to offer? The first thing is the MSI SONIC RED switches. It’s a result of a close collaboration between Kailh and MSI. These linear switches are designed to provide seamless and instantaneous responses, minimizing finger fatigue and enhancing comfort & ergonomics during gaming sessions.
