GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC V2 12G, 12GB GDDR6X, HDMI, 3x DP

With the RX 7600 and RTX 4060 Ti launches behind us now. I did have a fourth card come in around the same time. Gigabyte sent over their RTX 4070ti Gaming OC. The RTX 4070ti Gaming OC isn’t their highest-end RTX 4070 Ti, they do have the two Aurus cards as well. But it is their highest-end Gigabyte branded card which, unlike their Eagle or Windforce models, it does incorporate some RGB lighting that goes beyond just backlit branding and it is also overclocked so I’m excited to see how it compares to the other RTX 4070 Ti’s that we have taken a look at. So let’s dive in check out the card then put it to the test!

When it comes to gaming performance, the RTX 4070 Ti is easily better than the RTX 3090 despite having a lower bandwidth and VRAM than the latter. So unless you are really going to utilize all of the bandwidth and that 24GB worth of VRAM that is very unlikely to happen for most gaming use cases, I’d say the RTX 4070 Ti has more to offer in terms of features, DLSS 3 especially if you’re all in for the ray tracing effects. Of course, not everyone is into these fancy visuals and AI-assisted features but like it or not, we cannot overlook the fact that the feature is here to stay and will continue to improve in the future. If you’re open to experiencing it yourself, the RTX 4070 Ti is probably worth your consideration I’d say.

Today sees the launch of the RTX 4080 12GB. Sorry, 4070 Ti 12GB. A card that has had a LOT of bad press, even before it launched, and we’ll be going through exactly how it performs today. It’s also worth addressing the elephant in the room. This card, the 4070 Ti was the card that never was, or never should have been or kind of was, but then wasn’t, and then was something else. It was a mess from its first inception, and for one reason. Based on consumer feedback, and the fact that this was going to be labelled as an RTX 4080 with 12GB of GDDR6X memory, the general consensus was that the gaming community weren’t happy to have the wool pulled over their eyes, so NVIDIA went back to the drawing board and came up with the same product, but now branded as a 4070 Ti. The card it kind of should have always been and for one big key reason; the GPU core itself.

These cards are designed to cover all the essentials of the GPU for gamers that just want to install the card and get gaming, which is why it is priced close to NVIDIA's baseline price.

For most of us the Nvidia graphics card line up runs as follows. The x060 is for those with tight budgets who play less demanding games or don't mind running on medium settings. The x070 is found in the rigs of enthusiastic gamers still with fiscal limitations. The x080 is for the hardcore gamer and the x090 is designed for those who will accept nothing but the best. Then, six months later, the Ti models of those cards appear which refine everything to give extra performance just before the next generation appears. Usually that next generation moves everything up a level, so the RTX 3070 Ti matched the RTX 2080 Ti, and so on. The RTX 4070 Ti doesn't give a fig for such established conventions, and will prove to be a hugely popular GPU if you want some high end gaming performance.
