Das Fractal Torrent Gehäuse wurde mit der Zielsetzung „Airflow ohne Kompromisse“ entwickelt. Dafür wurde die Front sehr offen gestaltet und bereits fünf Lüfter im Gehäuse vorinstalliert. Zwei davon sind dabei übergroße 180-mm-Exemplare. Das Gehäuse wurde zudem etwas breiter gestaltet, damit drei 140er Lüfter auf dem Boden Platz finden können. Alternativ können auch extrabreite Radiatoren für eine Wasserkühlung verbaut werden.

Das Torrent ist ein gutes wenn nicht sogar sehr gutes Gehäuse mit einem schicken Design, viel Platz für große Komponenten und fünf vorinstallierten Lüftern. Allerdings besteht das Außenkleid aus Kunststoff, besonders beim Frontgrill hätte es da schon Aluminium sein kC6nnen.

Halten wir fest, Fractal Design hat es mal wieder geschafft eine neue Gehäuse-Serie auf den Markt zu bringen, die einiges anders macht, aber viele Stärken, die man von Fractal kennt und liebt beibehält. Herausgekommen ist ein Gehäuse das Fractal Design ein neues Gesicht verpasst. moderner, sportlicher, stylischer.

Fractal Design bringt mit dem Torrent ein neues E-ATX-Gehäuse auf den Markt - und setzt dabei ein Kühlkonzept um, das radikal mit bisherigen Lösungen des Herstellers bricht. Ab Werk sorgen fünf Lüfter für Kühlung - darunter gleich zwei riesige 180-mm-Modell. Und der Aufbau des Gehäuses wurde für einen möglichst extremen Airflow optimiert. The Fractal Design Torrent Black RGB receives our recommendation, albeit with some reservations. The design is innovative and appealing to us on a number of levels. The concept, as well as the inside, has been carefully considered. The craftsmanship is likewise excellent, as is typical of Fractal's products, however, it's just a lot of plastic in a price range where you expect a more premium material used. Some additional features, such as an ARGB hub (particularly in the RGB version), a fan in the back, or extra USB connections on the front panel, would have been nice to have as well. The cooling performance, on the other hand, remains harmonious throughout the entire process. The case is highly well-ventilated, and the temperatures are extremely low. Your problem however will be taming the fans, you'll need low RPM to keep them silent. but even then you'll have plenty of airflow. We do have an issue with cable routing on the backside, there just isn't a lot of possibilities to hide cabling, and with 10 wires leading from the 5 fans, you're in for a challenge. Some covers would have been nice for the TG versions with glass panels on both sides.

Fractal Design has finally gone beyond the trusted and true with the Torrent. No longer simply a variant of a single core chassis tooling, the Torrent goes beyond with a new interior as well. It is a big, bulky, modern statement of a chassis that allows for massive air-cooling without compromise and has all the usual fixings for liquid-cooling enthusiasts. On the exterior, Fractal Design has done a great job with how the enclosure looks, which is of course my subjective opinion. With its clean windows and asymmetical front panel, the case sure stands out nicely, and while it is larger than traditional mid-tower cases, it doesn't feel completely unwieldy, either. The latter is also attributable to the somewhat unique internal design of the Torrent with its top-mounted PSU bay. By moving it to the top, Fractal is able use the floor of the case for three 140 mm fans, and in turn omits any space usually found above the motherboard area for top radiator setups. Instead, to allow liquid cooling on the floor, the case is much wider than most.

Few people need a case this big or expensive. However, if you are will to pay for the privilege, you’ll find this case is well suited to any kind of high-end system build. The powerful airflow lends its self well to a workstation or rendering rig, and the design is slick and professional enough to look great in the office. However, with the ARGB options available, and tempered glass choices, you can also build a stunning gaming PC too. Whichever you choose, if you have the space and the money for it, the Fractal Torrent is pretty much the perfect enthusiast PC case.

Fractal Torrent White TG is an interesting case and I can see a lot of potentials as far as Modding goes. What I see here is a large case that has removable panels on each side with clear tempered glass on the side. The bottom front and top bezels of this case are all made from the same ABS plastic material. The finish of the plastic is not smooth but rather matte. Being white, everything that touches this case will leave a mark. So if you plan to use this case for Modding I would recommend painting it or at least clear coating the bezels. If you are extremely careful with the case then you would not have to worry about blemishes or marks.

conservative users such as yours truly may favour the quiet sophistication of Define 7, but for those wanting to try something different, Torrent represents an enticing foundation for a spectacular build.

I'll be honest, we were sceptical of the Fractal Torrent when it arrived. Surely there was a reason why case manufacturers always mount their PSUs at the bottom of their enclosures? Surely the past decade of case design hasn't been bad enough to utilise such an old-school design feature? Fractal's Torrent is an unorthodox design, but its classic PSU orientation is what the PC market sorely needs, especially as GPUs have seen their TDPs rise with the launch of Ampere GPUs from Nvidia and RDNA 2 cards from AMD. Fractal has seen this trend and has answered with what gamers worldwide have been crying out for; airflow.
